Monday 24th May - Arranged

In this acclaimed movie, we follow the lives of two women who become friends while teaching at a college in New York. One is an Orthodox Jewess while the other is a traditional Muslim. In this beautiful and entertaining film their friendship develops and they realise that they have more in common with each other than with their other colleagues.

With splendid natural performances, the movie focuses on these two delightful young women as they meet prospective grooms. The various suitors are at times highly unsuitable and it is hilarious to watch these women negotiate a ‘good marriage’ whilst retaining their individualities. The film provides a refreshing look at interfaith friendships, the preservation of tradition and respect for independence.
